Smooth(ie) Operation

Hello! Today is the official first day of Vegan MoFo 2012 and I am mighty excited! I worked most of the day so my post is a bit late, but that’s okay, right? As I mentioned in my last post, my theme is to try new recipes using a different cookbook for each day of the month. I have so many cookbooks I overlook and this is the perfect way to evenly distribute the love.

The book I used today is called The Smoothies Bible by Pat Crocker. When Tim and I first invested in our beloved VitaMix, we were making a lot of smoothies. A lot. Eventually we grew tired of the same combinations of fruits and whatnot so we bought a book to help. And then that book was left to collect dust on our bookshelves. I opened it up this evening and made a smoothie to cool off from a hot bike ride home from work.

This smoothie is called Raspberry. Clever, no? Anyways, it has a blend of frozen raspberries, peaches, almond milk, agave, and banana. I didn’t have all the ingredients the original recipe required, so I adapted it to suit my tastes. It was delicious and it cooled me off. I mean, it was 80 degrees today in Portland! Jeepers, where the flip is fall? In my glass, I guess.
