Crash and Be Brilliant

I experienced extreme embarrassment this evening. For the last several months, I have been considering buying a bicycle (and trying to save up money to buy one). I admit some hesitancy because I have not been on a bicycle in nearly twelve years. Somehow my mental powers convinced me that I had forgotten the necessary skills in maneuvering a bicycle; yet I researched and looked at many different two-wheeled wonders. This evening, after a long and boring day in my cave-of-an-office, I decided it was time to at least test-ride the bicycle I had developed a wee crush on. Big mistake. The nice bikeman at the store said the frame was a bit too big, but that I should at least take it for a ride to see if I liked the bicycle. I put on a helmet and went out on the sidewalk with the bicycle. I pedaled off, hit a brick wall, regained balance, and hit a fence… I continued to pedal, realizing I had no clue how to stop. I mean really, who is so stupid? Breaks! I stop the bike, awkwardly straddle off, and walk it back to the store. Sigh… All on a busy street! Goodness. Perhaps I am not ready for a bicycle?! I will try again…

And when one nearly scrapes up her knees trying to relearn how to ride a bike, one deserves a tasty dinner, right? Pictured below is one of my almost-weekly staples, the Greenie Tahini Bowl (recipe from VegTriathlete-Thank you!). This bowl has red cabbage, spinach, broccoli, brown rice, tofu, and a delicious tahini sauce. I always add extra garlic and double the sauce! So good, you should try it (especially when watching four back-to-back episodes of Arrested Development)!
